I find canned openers to not feel organic and natural and feel forced and awkward.

After you introduce yourself make some small talk and then transition to flirting.

From what I've seen, the opener itself is not the real problem, it's what comes after it. Even a canned opener, the most common one in the world, does its job. But what do you do next? That's where your "game" comes in, and it all depends on how you handle the situation you just created. This is why it's better to use an opener that naturally transitions into something else, so everything flows smoothly and nothing feels forced.

You need to create context to make things easier for yourself, do something that gives both of you something to talk about. Example: you're holding a drink, you notice a girl looking at you, so you tilt your drink toward her as if you're saying 'cheers' (that's the opener). What do you do after? You stand up, make sure she sees you, and then you either pretend to slightly trip or spill a tiny bit of your drink. Why? Because the moment you reach her, it's extremely easy to continue: 'I can’t even walk toward you properly without almost dying (tripping/spilling). Now I don’t even know if I’m safe or in danger next to you. Look, I’m literally shaking from fear (extend your hand and make your palm shake)...Are you a fairy or a witch? Do you dance on tables at parties or do you hide in a corner? I can’t decide, because I don’t know you yet....." just like that, you started a playful conversation out of nothing and you gave her a lot of subjects to continue. If she wants to keep it going, she'll reply easily.

Can you go up to her without any ‘fireworks’? Of course you can, but that already requires decent social skills to build a conversation out of nothing. If you know you need a bit of help, just do something similar as I said. Once you start, it becomes very easy to continue.
