All right asktrp, buckle your seat belts because this is going to be a semi-bumpy ride!
Question: What to do when one encounters a member of the opposite sex using TRP techniques? Do you abandon ship? Do you stick around? Do you keep them as a friend?
For those who want a bit more backstory, read below.
Have I met a RP? I’m here for non-bias advice that asktrp is known for giving. I feel the need to be as meticulous as possible so that we can best assess the situation and give feedback accordingly so that any other lad comes across the same situation, they can find solace in knowing they’re not the only one.
Backstory I was in a LTR of four years, things became stagnant and the relationship eventually revolved around a few of the exact same questions every single day. I knew things were going to end, just wasn’t sure when.
So I’m back to studying engineering at university after taking a year off to help a friend with his company. I’m rusty when it comes to basics and after realizing my LTR was coming to an end, the semester was already off to a shit start.
A month in, I meet Emma. she’s not particularly attractive but we study the same subject and I find her devastatingly intelligent. It should also be known that she made a move on me at a party. She was clearly sending me signals the entire night, all of which I gave zero fucks about. She then pulled me into her room and kissed me. I told immediately that I was in a relationship, dipped out, and called my gf to let her know what the fuck just happened.
Later that night I offer to air out what happened with lets call her emma, she apologizes, etc. telling me she knows how it feels to be in gf’s position, etc and she doesn’t want to cause problems.
I get that and my gf and I both respect her answer and chalk it up as nothing more than an accident.
All the while my LTR is becoming more predictable and uninteresting by the second. I stuck around to make certain of how I felt but once I was certain I broke it off sometime after that night. Initially she was taken back by it because she was caught so off guard but eventually we both saw the silver lining in the situation. We both need time to grow independently from on another (We were both our firsts). She’s rationale and gets it. We both begin focuses on school, career, and ourselves.
Real shit Right after I ended LTR, I started stumbled upon TRP. I read like a mad man and learned a ton.
Meanwhile, Emma and I become very intimate and agree to keep it casual; drop acid together (first time for me and what a wonderfully liberating experience it was) and all that jazz. We couldn’t help but be entirely honest about our feelings. I love yous were exchanged, etc. She knows what she wants in bed and in life, which is a real step up from the LTR I was in since we are both on the same page regarding sex drive and ambition.
Things are going fine until I start to notice that emma is using a lot of TRP techniques on me.
- She always made me go to her place
- I was always there when she needed shit done
- Getting her tea and what not
- I spent more money that I wanted to and ignored budgets
- Finished when she was done, etc.
We even had a discussion about it. She said she agreed with techniques but disagreed with the premise. (purple) In hindsight, she took advantage of my BB characteristics. I almost flunked out of my department as a result and she even went so far as excommunicated me from my study group.
I’m an attractive dude, financially I’m doing well, I eat healthy, and I lift religiously. I think the biggest challenge I face is being codependent for so long in my first LTR and then being taken advantage of during this vulnerable time meant for rebuild.
I’m overcoming that slowly now that I have time for my hobbies but I can’t help but feel like she took advantage of me and left me out to dry. I don’t want that to happen again.
In fact, I want the best method moving forward with the following outcomes
- I want to preserve some of our mutual relationships
- I want to not develop oneitis for her
- I want overcome my need for codependence
- I want to know what you do when you encounter a RP of the opposite sex. Do you keep them as friends, fuck buddies, or abandon ship entirely?
I take full responsibility over what happened. I'm looking for advice on how to prevent it from happening in the future and some tips moving forward from the situation.
