Although I can not speak to this specific case, the United Nations is a misandric organization.

When the United Nations evaluates gender discrimination, it only counts discrimination against women. Discrimination against men is not included in their reports.

For example, the United Nations Women's Office ranks nations based on female political representation. The rankings are completely unilateral; even as female political representation climbs above 50%, nations will continue to rise in rankings.

The interpretation of these rankings is that the best countries on Earth have 100% female political representation!

Other global organizations (such as the World Economic Forum) apply the same misandric standards (mortality, violence, education, etcetera).

Possibly it does , but youre citing a case where UNHCR has no authority. It’s entirely up to Canada whether to grant refugee status and when, UNHCR has no authority there and even in Thailand they couldn’t have done anything if the Thai govt wanted to hand her over to the Saudis. In this case it was a ridiculous bidding war between woke politicians in Canada and Australia who are just looking to score points with their voters. Im sure the fact that she is a young woman with internet presence made her more attractive to the politicians than if she was an observant Muslim man (and therefore a potential terrorist in the eyes of Canadian voters). So discrimination for sure, but blame the Canadian politicians.

Ofc, gay and bi men are already "privileged" in the mainstream lgbtq spite of all hate crimes statistics, the list of countries that criminalize only male homosexuality and notorious corn based double standard that sex between women are okay, while sex between men is strictly forbidden.
