(I didn't know how to express this so used ai for help.)

I basically want to apologise, sort of, for being a white knight when I was younger. In hindsight it made me overprotective of women, more than they really needed or deserved, and more critical and distrusting of men than they deserved. I subscribed to it all because I thought that’s how you be a good person in life.

I can see now that those traits are pretty common in men, and on a societal level they’ve helped create this mass fatherlessness by judges, schools, doctors, police, and even family members always painting men as the negative ones and women as the default better parent. I didn’t know any better at the time because that’s exactly how I was taught, so I’m torn about what I’m even apologising for.

Does anyone else have similar thoughts, and if so how do you describe and rationalise them?
