This might not be the right place to post the exact question but I feel that the experiences people face with changing the course of their lives later on in their lives might be of guidance to me.

I am currently studying engineering in the states. It is a public state school but it is fairly good, nothing extreme but top 40 in the nation for engineering and top 15 for masters in engineering. I did pretty well in high school, 3.6 avg, again nothing great but also got a 1070 on sat which is what killed me.

Anyways that's just a little background. my thing is my first year and a half of university was basically spent catching up to start engineering in the states. I still have about 4 years and a half to go, maybe even 5. My family makes a lot but doesn't want to help me so it costs me over 20,000 a year not including food and personal things to study in the states.

I am of European citizenship, and have family living there. I might have a chance to study in some really prestigious universities but idk if it's too late for me now that I am 19. I started at 17 but wasted a lot of time taking catch up courses to start on my engineering path and took this semester off to go abroad to spend some time(Europe)

Since I am of European citizenship I can study in a top 20 engineering school in the world for free, since I speak that language. Though in not sure if all my credits will convalidate, and I might have to start from 0. But here you graduate in 3 years with an engineering degree since courses are very advanced.

Also I can study in other prestigious universities like Zurich eth, Munich tech or Berlin tech for free, problem is that, I would have to go back to the states and spend another semester there taking classes and learning German since I don't speak that language.

I'm just confused on what to do and need a little guidance. I feel like it's too late now that I'm 19 to switch my life around and try different things but I just don't feel good in the states anymore. I don't like that way of life and it's affecting my studies. Went from 3.8 to 3.4 in one semester. I also don't want to end in over 100,000 dollars in debt when I graduate from a university that's not even that prestigious when I can study for free, graduate at the same time, possibly learn another language and if things go well I can go back to the states and get a masters at a top university

Maybe I am dreaming too big but I feel like nothing is impossible if you try and have patience
