TL;DR Live alone and do the best I can or move in with my older brother & try to establish a hangout/party house? Context below. .

Brothers,

My lease is up and I'm moving quite soon. I currently live in a 2Br/2Ba apartment that I share with my father (who is gone 80% of the time due to work). I rarely entertain or have company over regardless, not strictly because of him, but because I feel like my apartment is a bit lame and isn't in an interesting part of town.

Excuses aside, I would like to be able to entertain company, throw parties, etc. This means I'd most prefer a house, where I can also spin fire (flow props) in the back without any kind of gruff from management. I would try to turn this place into a regular gathering spot for my friends to spin, since these circles are always looking for places to drink and burn, and other more normal parties.

Catch is this: I would be moving in with my older brother. Dad would be moving out altogether, and the only other roommates would be there at our mutual discretion. I've looked up to this guy for years and love him, we spend a ton of time together and are really close, but I haven't had to live with him in quite some time and he can be a pill (AMOG/rank pulling/hothead etc.)

On the one hand, I know he & I could throw some bomb ass parties together which could really help my status and growth. On the other, I wonder if they wouldn't mostly end up looking like his parties and I'm still the kid brother. I've felt like that before.

Very recently, after grinding on TRP for a solid year, I'm finally beginning to develop a sense of confidence and optimism about my personal future, so I no longer feel "outclassed" or "low status" by being around him or other high value men. I could probably hold my own and we could work well together, but I'm wondering what your opinions are.

My alternative would be to get some place on my own, which would be smaller, less fun, and probably not as great to throw parties out of. However, it provides me an opportunity to grow independently and not have to worry about competing with my brother for respect & a social identity separate from him.

NOTE: I have never actually lived alone before. These past 6 months in my current apartment with Dad are the closest I've gotten. I have weeks on my own sometimes without him being in town, but he'll come around and hang out for 3-4 days at a time, help clean, help with my taxes, etc. I have a solid job and could afford a decent place, but wouldn't want to overspend my budget just to find a "cool spot" that I can entertain from.
