I'm sure a few here are familiar with Stefan Molyneux. I sometimes agree with him, and other times not so much. This particular podcast, and the sections below, prompted a very interesting discussion with my wife and friends, and I thought it would be relevant for this sub.

The part paraphrased below begins here

Dear Men,

We are incredibly sorry, as a culture, as a society, as women, as film makers, as other men - we are sorry. We have been putting you down, insulting you and denigrating you for years. We have been caustic and destructive. We have broken you down. We want things from you that are unjust, and in order to get you bend over backwards for us we had to break your spine. We have relentlessly pounded you with insulting stereo types, with destructive messages and undermining clichés. We have pretended that we don't need you, that you are something we put up with, like a stinky ancient dog kept around for mere sentimental reasons. We have exploited and used you, and thrown you in jail for impossible standards of alimony and child support. We have regularly used the courts to threaten and abuse you whilst calling you the only abuser. As a whole, we have done all that we can to put you down and turn you to the service of our own narcissistic needs.

We are incredibly sorry. We made a huge mistake, the evidence is in: you are essential to the family and the health and happiness of children. You are essential to the health, happiness and safety of women. Society, fundamentally, lives or dies by your honor. We have been teaching you, for decades, that you have no honor, that you are pigs, that you are selfish, lazy, greedy, immature, sexually obsessed and untrustworthy. We have pretended that the money you bring in to the relationship is immaterial. The only thing that matters is our dishes, not your work. The government will provide us with all the things that you won't, you've become much less fundamentally necessary from a resource standpoint. From a financial standpoint we can survive. We can survive as a family, because of the power of the state, without you the father. But the children suffer. Enormously. Sometimes irrevocably.

Another part I found particularly poignant is here

"Men are an eye rolling additional burden, for overworked and heroic women, and you say that so men don't complain. It's like a bad boss who always threatens you with being fired, keeps you on your toes. You're not going to ask for a raise if you feel like you're just barely contributing anything, and you're only there at the long suffering whim of your boss. Who has a soft spot for you that he can barely understand, well then you're not going to be competing with him, you're going to be exploited by him. Putting people down is essential to exploiting them. You cannot exploit a man or a woman with a strong sense of their own self worth. It's not going to happen."
