Not only that, but don't many women WANT to have children? And don't SOME men want to NOT have children?

Children aren't always a benefit to men and they aren't always a cost to women.

Do women "leave their family" when marrying a man? Not necessarily. Their last name may change (if they want) but often, both parents families remain in contact.

Of course marriage can be a raw deal for many women, particularly those women who would've been happier in a career. But many women want to be married to a breadwinner husband. 50's-style gender roles did NOT work for everyone, but they DID work for SOME people. Why not let people make their own choices as to what kind of family arrangements they prefer?

you know in a way you could view this as encouraging "rape culture". society still pretty much demands that people be married before having children, and if we're not allowed to ask for marriage then the only socially acceptable action remaining is to TAKE the hand in marriage rather than ask for it. i love following logic all the way to its conclusion
