Right now, I'm a college junior working this crap, fast-good gig as a means to earn money while in college. I have been doing resume/cover letter work through my university's career services and /r/resumes and /r/getemployed and have applied to multiple places not only in my city but throughout the entire country. Even though rejection from these jobs are inevitable, I am confident that I will land a better gig because I am almost done with a degree that will pay off (computational mathematics), plan on going on to graduate school and have been doing professional development/reading relevant material. But I digress.

I got this crappy fast-food job through my friend's dad's connections. When I began working, the previous, male manager had huge respect for my work ethic and "the fact that [I am] doing something with myself." Eventually, he left and was replaced by this 21 year-old party girl (lots of red flags).

Not to be cruel, but the majority of my current co-workers are trash: teenage parents, high-school dropouts without a driver's license in their mid-20s, ex-convicts, heavy drinkers/drug users with no direction or some combination of all of these. Because I'm the most different in this context (violation of Law 38), the new, young manager automatically pegged me as a loser and all of the males joined her side because they are horndawgs (I was respected and looked up to before she joined). Now, I am facing all of the signs of being a low-value male: yelled at for the stupidest crap, being held as long as four extra hours and yelling at me when I question her, even bitching at me when a customer gives me a compliment.

My question is, even though I'm looking for a better gig, how can I deal with having relatively low SMV in this workplace? I've applied RP principles, but the tables have been turned on me and I'm outnumbered.
