I really love this subreddit, but I have noticed that most (if not all) posts focus on negative experiences, anti-MRA blogs and terrible articles.

It's time we had a feel-good thread to share those times when you were the people around you, or the mainstream media, pleasantly surprised you with their pro-men stance.

I couldn't agree more. Thanks for doing this!

I have two stories to tell.

Last week I was having dinner with a couple of friends (about 50/50 male to female). One of my female friends told us about an event she witnessed in a train earlier that day.
A woman in her compartment didn't have a ticket. When the ticket inspector came by, she told some (unconvincing) sob story about how she forgot and how sorry she was. The inspector let her off with a warning.
A man sitting in that very same compartment didn't have a ticket either and his story of how how he forgot was much more convincing (according to my friend), but - you've guessed it already - he did get a fine.
Anyway, the point of the story is that all of my friends were outraged by this blatant display of sexism. One of them was even seriously considering sending an angry letter to the company to let them know that she thought that the inspector was way out of line.

Another instance was yesterday at the school where I intern.
Two middle/high school (those two are more or less combined in my country) were talking about what elementary school to send their kids to.
One of them mentioned that she visited one school that looked nice, but there were no male teachers that worked there. She said she would never send her kids to a school without male teachers, because she thought it was important that her kids were educated by both sexes. The other woman agreed.

I know these stories don't seem like much, but it just made me happy to hear that more people in my direct neighbourhood were sympathetic to our cause than we might think.
So I just wanted to share this, and I'm looking forward to reading all of your stories.

This may be only sort of tangentially MR related but it seemed very much so to me.

Standing on the porch just a few hours ago talking to neighbors, man and wife, I don't really know them at all well, we were talking about trash collection.

Another neighbor approaches, she has a young baby in a stroller. Now this other neighbor i do not know at all, but there have been minor issues between she and I relating to the common areas of the building.

Obviously struggling with the baby in one arm and dragging the stroller, she crossed the porch and approached the stairs, clearly I was supposed to offer to help - I did not.

This felt like a transgression, I mean to myself, i felt as though I should help her, there was effort involved in resisting that urge, in looking away, continuing my conversation.

The woman i was speaking with, after a few moments said 'let me help you' and ran to assist in carrying the stroller. When she returned she said to me 'I guess I'm a gentleman'.

Well I hope my agreement showed in my eyes, she was indeed a gentleman, what i said was 'More than me'.

Whats the positive part? TIL that my neighbor lady felt that same urge to assist that I had struggled against but it seemed that where for me it took effort to resist, for her it took effort to allow herself to be helpful.

The social roles, the unwritten rules that told me I SHOULD help, told her she should not. My resistance in a way freed her to act.

She was a gentleman.

Two days ago I saw a bus ad for rape counseling services that depicted a male and acknowledged that it can happen to men too.

Not exactly "positive" but I guess it's progress.

Er...well...Oh, yeah, yesterday i managed to look at a cute little kiddie for a full two seconds without being called a pedo. After the two seconds i looked away, just to be on the safe side.
