I'm 16. I have a passion for music & acting, & people say I'd be good at sales. I know how rare it is to make it in the fields i stated, what are some back up fields I could learn in case I don't make it?

Sales is not rare. its one of the tertiary jobs that we still outsource to highly educated Indians and Brits. My best advice for you is to take all of these compliments and keep them in the back of your head while pursuing a degree in something technical that you find interest in. Sales engineers make a lot of money and are highly desired. BS in something like computer engineering or mechanical and a masters in Business admin will get you 100k+ salary easily assuming your business skills are actually good. Focus on school, don't be a welder.

You're 16. Don't overthink this. Your one and only priority is school, so stress over that. Get top grades, and all those doors that people promise at the end, will still remain open to you. The BIG secret here is that these doors are only open to the top percent of the graduating class. At university, where your interests need to continue into, is where you can truly find out if they will work for you or not. Fear not, as your first two years of university aren't wasted credits at all. Music and theater and acting isn't a full time job. It comes and goes in spurts. Supplement your income with side jobs.

There was a picture floating around a while back about chris pratt practicing his first script outside of his home, which was a van parked on the side of some park. It is gonna be hard, and there are millions of other people who look and act better than you. But don't give up. Start NOW with your resume with volunteer work that is directly related to your field. At the age of 16, people usually have a decade of theater or singing or acting experience under their belt. I'm assuming you're heavily involved in these types of clubs/classes at your school?

Music and acting is shit. You don't need talent, you need looks, connections, luck and to suck a few dicks.

You can easily test sales. Get a job at e.g. a big electronics store where you have to sell stuff. Best you can do. If you live it, study and go where the profit margins are huge.

I acted for a little bit. It's tough.

As a female, all that matters is how you look. That's about it... if a producer thinks your looks are enough to market you, you're golden. It helps to have acting talent, but if you are attractive enough and a producer thinks they can work with you, you're good... also helps if you are willing to spread your legs.

As a male it's harder because it requires a lot of luck. A lot of it is based on who you know and networking and less about actual skill, as well as how much shit you are willing to put up with.

I only acted for a couple years because you put up with so much shit. I was a background character for a show on USA Network filmed in Georgia and it's not like this was an A-list Hollywood Blockbuster production, yet the above-the-line crew(directors, etc.) are power tripping douche bags who do nothing but bitch, whine, and insult and think they are the most important people in the world. If everything isn't tailored exactly to their liking(aka the temperature of their coffee isn't to the exact degree they ask) they throw a hissy fit like a 5 year old. You have to have really thick skin. I can only imagine how much worse it is in Hollywood where the egos are exponentially higher.

I did it for a couple years and moved over to the production side of television news. Less egos, less bullshit.
