Basically I have trouble with a tenant who makes unreasonable demands. I spare you the details as they are not important. Let's say I am just trying to protect my interests here. So the dude actually came to my house to give me shit. I politely told him I can't give in to his demands as I have valid and lawful interests to protect. He started screaming and was quite unreasonable. I tried to be polite but assertive but he really stressed me out as my brother's 4 year old kids were also present. So I kinda started shaking and have an urge to fight or flight and can't really hold my frame.

What would be the appropriate response in such a situation? Where someone gives you shit and makes a huge scene although you are right (but not in their eyes).

I try to imagine how my very experienced former landlords would have handled this. Probably just shut the door in his face, tell him to fuck off and contact my lawyer? I feel like you need to be firm here and set clear boundaries and enforce them.

In other words: I said no (according to the book of a similar name) but the reaction to my no was going nuclear.
