I was thinking about not only rereading the hand book but actually writing and highlighting parts that I need the most help with to kinda of sink it into my brain or just quick little notes when I’m question an interaction with a man. I recently got over a psychically abusive relationship where my abuser actually died so I was confused for a while.

I start reading FDS a year ago when my bf was in prison on probation violation. (He did 6 years for defending my cousin against a man trying to bear her up. He shot him) he is obviously extremely dangerous.

Anyway. When he was away I read through this sub and r/narcissisticabuse (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SUB) they helped me admit to myself I was being abused and taken advantage of. I finally left him in April/May

But I’m my new relationship I am being treated like an absolute queen. And from being neglected so long his affection and love for me has become foreign act what I went though almost 2 years. (One time he backhanded me because my humming annoyed him. So get an idea about him)

I feel bad because he’s so sweet, loving, and caring. I feel I push him away because I feel like I don’t deserve it.

Then, I got my confidence back. I can handle affection, and I know I deserve love and respect. I DEMAND RESPECT from men. I no longer take anybody’s shit. And I’ve never felt better

But there are moments that... I find myself subconsciously trying to overcompensate sometimes because that’s how my abuser made me feel. I’m a sometimes on edge and feel the need to be “perfect”. All though I have gotten rid of more of the brain washing into serving men.

Thank you FDS- I now serve myself. I respect myself. I love myself. I treat myself. I better myself.

But my question is What are some your ladies tricks into staying on the right path? How to overcome old habits?

I’ve picked up panting to my own individual identity and hobby. What about you guys?
