Not so much with listening, but I feel like more often than not, the less you speak in a social setting the more you are seen as a background person and are therefor more likely to get interrupted when you do speak. I can see this rule working well if you have very obvious value or status to the people around you, but let's say you're just a blank slate of a guy meeting a new group of friends, I think this rule can just get you drowned out of the conversation. Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong though. What are your thoughts on this idea?
