Just stare once. Staring more than once will be creepy. If you make eye contact, give a short smile. If you make eye contact with guys, just give a head nod.

Your state of mind can affect this. If you are having a great time and enjoying yourself, it will show through your eyes. If you are butthurt / angry and make eye contact with someone, they will think you are dogging them.

I've seen it mentioned here that eye contact is a very good thing. Do not be apologetic about your sexuality. If you're checking a girl out, and she catches you half way...keep going, then smile and look away.

Actual eye contact is really depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you're trying to establish dominance over someone it could be usefull not look away. If you're just casually looking at some old lady but she feels like you want to rape her soul.....probs a little too intense
