Fight back but intelligently and in the shadows, sometimes that means not fighting back. I don't know though you haven't provided enough information for me to advise you on the best course of action

From her point of view, if you're not on her team, I.e., benefitting her, either there's something wrong with her or or there's something wrong with you. Guess which story she wants to believe? Even more importantly, guess which story she wants her peers to believe?

Remember when you enter this kind of socially networked struggle that you're playing on her turf. Women are inherently more cooperative/ consensus driven, even (maybe especially) when they compete.

Instead women form smaller cliques much more easily, allying themselves socially with other women for the purpose of advancing their social position.

Women have a facility for easy social connections, based on their superior communication skills, that allows quick alliances to form and break down. A woman will often find one or two social partners within a group and stick with them, using the combined power of the smaller group to attract advantageous allies. In this sense consensus becomes far more important than authority and respect.

You know that saying hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? Well, she's been scorned. She must like you a little bit, because if you were just some chump she'd ghost you. You'd become a non-entity. She certainly wouldn't be taking the time to run her mouth about you all the time. So she clearly cares that you cut her off; point for Nex54. Now she's wanting a reaction. I doubt anything would make her happier than you confronting her directly or otherwise showing it bothers you. Don't oblige. That'll be another point for Nex54 and possibly the ballgame. If her shit-talking begins undermining you then take prudent action, obviously. But if she's just squawking let her squawk. Women feed off of emotion, good or bad. Keep starving her out.

Nothing better than a girl talking shit about you but when you meet the girls she says this to they see that you are fun and cool.
