Yes, these are shit-tests in most cases.
But in 1) women often use it as an "opener" to go from discussions about the weather or politics or work or whatever to "man/women stuff". An invitation to quit talking about the boring stuff and start flirting.

What is the purpose of this shit test in particular?
Easy.
Most beta guys find it really offensive when women talk about how hot other guys are.
Guys with low self-confidence find it intimidating. "Oh she has high standards. Oh she is actively checking other men out. Oh he seems hotter than me..."
They also think it's impolite/disrespectful. And it kind of is. But if you are an easy-going guy this won't rattle your cage at all.
She basically tests your self-confidence (most shit-tests do) and she wants to know if she has to walk on eggshells around you. She wants to know if she always has to think about what she says or if you have thick enoguh skin that unimportant remarks won't get to you.

Haha, all the time. And to a lot of my friends, too. I hear guys worrying about it all the time. It's an absolute classic.
You have to understand that it's completely normal to women to do it..
What made me think differently about was when I found out that they don't mind at all if you are doing it.
Just try it.
The problem with shit-tests is that you can easily pass them. Play cool and so on. It's not rocket science and easy to do. The real problem when you are starting out and even when you have come a long way is that shit-tests can kill your mood.
This hurts your game a lot. You might even lose interest in the girl. Don't ever let this happen.
What I did was what I said above. Experimenting to see how they react when I am doing it.
I was really into the for science!-aspect of the red pill.
I didn't only talk about other women and how hot they were, I had beautiful women in seductive poses as wallpaper on my smartphone for science.
Whenever I met women they noticed it sooner or later.
None of them found it strange, none of them were irritaded, none of them reacted negatively in any way and it always led to us talking about attractiveness, personal preferences and dating and relationship stuff.
Seeing that they don't mind when you do it showed me that they don't have malicious intention when they are doing it.
Just try to see it as what it is: "game". Because going out with women and dating them is a game. A fun challenge.
When she talks about hot guys she is basically saying: "I am into hot guys. I have standards. Try to keep up."
There is nothing wrong with it and she expects you to to the same. You should be giving out the message: "I am into hot women. I have standards. Try to keep up", too.

I'd just ignore it, change the subject completely. Or give her a blank stare that conveys the fact that you are not at all interested in what she's saying. Dread-like.
