Let him come talk to you and your girl. She should introduce you at that time. Dont need to mention that you know or dont know him. Just act normal and treat him like another dude. Shake hands firmly, strong eye contact and be friendly. Show him that you don't consider him a threat or an issue. Your girl will see your confidence, as will he.

Just be cool - no need to over think - if he's in your circle offer your hand and introduce yourself - not over keen, not stand of fish - just cool. You can do it my friend. Also don't bring up your ex - he will be aware of who YOU are - and your cool guy.

Take it easy, plaster a shitlord grin all over your face, and stay out of their way. If you see the GF fidgeting because she wants to go talk to the guy, taunt her about it: "there he is, run to him my love-dove, fly like the wind".

As always, focus on amusing yourself. If she gets all chummy with the Ex, you can talk to new women or just walk out and go elsewhere. It would not be a good idea to try forcing your way in between them or whatever.

The key RP idea here is that it's the woman who is holding on for dear life to the man. Never vice versa. You don't NEED her, you just like her. She needs you. You can use this to much effect by acting like the ex is causing HER a problem, instead of causing you any. She is the one who should be uncomfy and worried that maybe her new man will think the wrong thing and she will lose her sweet deal that she worked so hard to get. Meanwhile you act like it's amusing to you, nothing much more - it's amusing and you're unapologetically observing and judging her on what she will do.

If the ex dude comes up to introduce himself, you're casual too and even mildly friendly. After all man, this is your eskimo brother right there.
