Don't do it for them. Ignore what they say. You lift for you. You want to look the way you think looks best so you have true confidence.

Also if you want the "cut" lean but toned look you still have to do a considerable amount of bulking first.

Low bodyfat takes a priority above everything. A girl can't tell if you have a 6 pack or a spare tire when you are talking to her at a bar.

However, if you have low bodyfat then she will imagine that you do

Who cares what they say they want. They are either going to play into you or shit test you with their words.

*Runners

As long as you are in good shape it doesn't really matter which body type you go for. Just do whatever you would like to look like and you will be happier for it. Body Builder you are going to be smaller than the guys in the pic so don't worry about getting to the gross level.

Getting really big is hard enough that you don't really have to worry about doing it by accident. Just lift. And if you love lifting so much that you do it on purpose, who fuckin cares what girls think about it?

It depends. What's your height and current body composition look like?

Generally I'd say get bigger though since having more lean muscle mass makes it a lot easier to get cut later on, largely due to the higher resting metabolic rate.

Cutting is much much harder than a bulk (when going to low teens BF%). If you're new, you won't be mentally prepared for that (it's more mental than physical), bulking is fun and enjoyable. You see yourself become strong and confident. So my advice would be to bulk. Gain muscle and strength. Once you have a year or two of proper, dedicated, consistent training under you, go for a cut. You'll be ready.

Lean

It makes your face look older and more masculine.

Less bodyfat = less bodyfat in face = more musculature, more chiseled features

I'm chubby right now, on dat perma-bulk (been bulking for 2 years). Not fat by any means but definitely high bf% bodybuilding wise. I chose to focus on strength right now and then cut in a few months.

Lean, every time.

Appeals to women, easier clothes to find and wear, less physically intimidating to both sexes which opens doors(Ive been denied access to parties because of my size and uncontrol-ability; been told people wouldnt answer the door if I was with my kids trick or treating), maintains flexibility...a list of shit.

Honestly, lifting for size is a two edged sword; many benefits. Negatives are the maintenance. Once you start lifting hard, your body burns fuel. When you stop, your body still prepares to go hard, and stores fat rapidly in preparation.
