I think I have boring friends and I don't know what to do. More accurately, I think I have been boring for the last few years and am just now waking up.
For the past few years, all my friends and I really do to hang out is meet up every few weeks to chill in the park or eat lunch together. It's alright, and we have great conversations, but nothing that really gets our blood flowing or strengthens our friendship. Also I would like to hang out in groups but they always seem to want to meet one on one. For years I was okay with this.
Now I'm 21 years old, and I'm realizing that sitting around talking about our days is not the kind of thing a young man like me wants to do. I've been trying to think of more fun things to do, but I'm not really sure where to turn. Two major obstacles are that I can't drink and I can't risk my career by breaking the law. So what's a guy to do?
I recently got a text from one of the aforementioned friends, a girl who just invited me to coffee after being overseas for six months. I'm not interested in escalating with this girl, so honestly I'm not interested in going on another pointless "date"/meetup/friendly whateverthefuck with this chick. She's a cool, trustworthy friend, but how do I say we've got to do something more fun without sounding like I'm calling her lame?
The more I write this post the more I realize it's my fault that I have nothing interesting to offer. Maybe if I did some interesting stuff, I'd meet some interesting people. But I don't even know what interesting stuff I can do.
So that's the question. How do I become a cooler person, and what do I say to my old friends?
