How important is it to have your own place if you're gonna hook up with chicks?

The older you get, the more you need your own place to maintain appearances. If you are still in school, you can get away with not having your own place; this applies through graduate school. You'll still get shit-tested, but people will understand. However, if you are out of school and still living with mom and/or dad, people will assume you are poor, which is a giant turnoff, at least in the U.S.A.

If you live at home with your folks, absolutely make sure that your room has a lock, and that your parents respect your privacy enough to allow you to take girls back to your room. Also, have a stereo going to cancel out sex noises. Basically, you want the girl to feel like she's outside of public scrutiny and won't be slut-shamed. That's a woman's primary concern, if hooking up. She'll do it, but only if nobody knows, or if they do know, they approve. She's less likely to do it if she feels people will give her shit about it, and this includes your family, which is why privacy is so important.

I share a house with 3 other guys. They don't cockblock me and I'm sure one of them gets annoyed hearing the women's sex noises, but it's never been an issue for me.

Keep in mind that I actively screen out the women looking for financial support from me. My idea of going to a restaurant is McDonald's, and the only time I go with a woman to a non-fast food restaurant is when she offers beforehand to cover the bill.

If a woman likes me because I spend money on her, then as soon as I lose my job or stop giving her money or supporting her she will lose interest in me. Far better to attract women on the strength of my personality.

How old are you? Do you currently live with your parents?

If you're with the parents, you should consider a half-way solution which is to get a decent roommate.

One of the best setups I had in terms of logistics was sharing a 1200 sq. ft. apartment with a friend of similar age (started out as roommates, then became friends). Our respective rooms were at opposite ends of the place, and we each had our own bathroom which gave a good sense of privacy and made the girls comfortable.

Part of the money we saved on rent was re-invested in furnishing the place nicely and adding decent art, plants etc.

It did help that we would also wingman for each other and had a clear understanding of what is expected when someone brings a date back home etc.

Too bad he moved out of the country for a job.

I had a mixed bag with female roommates. One of them was a really good looking showbiz/fashion professional. She was a great involuntary wingman. Girls would get intimidated by her looks and I guess subconsciously interpret the fact that we're living together as some kind of preselection. On more than one occasion I've literally heard them gasp "She's so pretty!" as soon as we left the living room and entered my room. That usually meant things were going well!

I had a negative experience with a South American chick who developed a thing for me but in whom I had no interest. Lots of indirect cockblocking attempts.

In general, having a roommate also made it easier to get the girl directly to my room. Since having my own place, I've had a couple of girls mentally block and refusing to go from the living room to the bedroom. I later understood that to be a form of LMR, since they perceived moving to the bedroom as an agreement for sex.

I am now over 30, and while I really enjoyed having roommates it was starting to become a turn off for a certain type of chicks, mostly the ones closer to my age. I guess they don't really understand it and it's somewhat incongruent with my income level etc.

Now I have my own place, mainly because I play a couple of instruments and felt restricted in when and how frequently I could practice without being a total dick to the roommate.
