I think we're coming to a tipping point in history. I can almost feel it - can anyone else? Back in the 60's and 70's Feminism grew in power because it addressed legitimate grievances in society. Yet now many people are beginning to see through the facade of Feminism - aside from the colleges and Liberal activists, many people are beginning to realize that Feminism doesn't have any legitimate grievances to fight over in the Western World anymore.

Movies and books with Red Pill ideas are beginning to emerge. Polls are showing that more women today want to be housewives than they did 20 years ago. More and more men are shying away from marriage - and even LTRs for good reason.

The average working class person is overworked, underpaid, sleep deprived and over stressed. They don't care about the rights of women to go topless in New York or the rights of men to wear skirts. They don't care about the rights of a 400 pound woman to frolic around in public in their underwear.

People want something real and they feel that their lives are empty. Women are coming to terms with the fact that Daycare Workers know their children better than they do. Men in their 40's are living alone while giving half their salaries to someone who doesn't even give anything back.

The average person doesn't give a CIS Gendered Rat's Ass about Feminism. They want a life, a reasonable job and a family.

History happens in cycles, I feel like we're at the tail end of a liberal cycle, and we're about to enter an era of conservative fundamentalism. We already see it in the rise of fundamentalist religions around the world - and the rise of Nationalism in Europe and India, Islamic Fundamentalism in the Middle East and Christian Fundamentalism in the Americas. I'm not advocating such things, but I'm saying that reality is that when the current system fails to provide people with the necessities of life - they turn to conservative extremes for answers.

So it is very realistic that Feminists may go from running around topless with angry slogans painted on their chest, to wearing hijabs in one generation.

GREAT comment.

Can you give any examples of RP movies and books? Super curious what other people think, personally I see a LOT of BP media, but I have only been RP for about a year and during this time I've been caring for my 1 year old so I'm kind of out of the loop, especially with everyone I know being BP.

We should do a thread about this, if there isn't one already!

We're as equal as we can get without trying to tear down biology (which feminists are already desiring to do with outrage over the fact male and female babies are given different makeups of breast milk), and that's something feminists don't seem to recognize.

All they see is their seething hatred and nothing else. They don't care about how they're throwing men under the bus, and, in fact, sometimes revel in the fact. Their blood starts to boil when some young woman refuses to be feminist and chooses something like humanist instead, because feminism is obviously more important than helping out humanity as a whole.

And slacktivism is about the worst thing that's happened in America. All of this hashtag couch activism does nothing for those who really do need help in the world.

It's pretty much an anti-men movement, a very lazy one at that.

The word slacktivism totally put the church of the subgenius in my head.

Fun half a second of wait whut :p

Internet terminology has invaded my brain so deeply. :p It is a really good term for what's going on, though.

male and female babies are given different makeups of breast milk

I wonder what happens if a woman has twins; one of each gender?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good question. I'm not sure, since I don't know if each breast can produce a slightly different formula or not. I feel the need to look into that now.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"There is no data on how breast milk may vary for nursing mixed-gender twins."

From Discovery News

Darn it.

I'd imagine it would have to do with hormone detection. It would probably be boy-baby milk because of the presence of higher levels of testosterone.

All of this hashtag couch activism does nothing for those who really do need help in the world.

Not to mention it is incredibly arrogant to think you have the solution to, or even should solve, someone else's problems. Activism is the art of doing something for the sake of feeling like a good person, without carrying about the real repercussions in order to find out if you are a good person, who actually helped someone.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup. It's true that those who want help are being activists in their own nations despite putting themselves in harm's way. We still need to worry about problems within our nation (and not the nonexistent feminist ones).

I used to consider myself a feminist. I'm all for equality of opportunity. I think if dudes want to stay home and raise kids and women want to go out and be CEOs, then sure... go hard.

... but there are no actual physical or legal barriers to this anymore. What feminism's become is a movement where feminists are trying to demand universal approval of their choices (which is not something anybody's been able to demand, ever). There's no legal or physical reason you can't be a slut-- you can fuck any and everyone you want to fuck (provided they also want to fuck you), but why bother railing against "slut shaming"? Some proportion of people are going to "shame" you for EVERY FUCKING DECISION YOU EVER MAKE. It's an individual decision not to give a fuck that we need, rather than a "social movement".

It's just become a matter of "a little less conversation, a little more action please", for me. There's too much bitching going on and not enough doing. Not enough female CEOs? Well go fucking become the CEO of a company then. Not enough female protagonists in movies/video games? Sweet, go make movies and video games with female protagonists.

... that and we're preaching female empowerment and still raising daughters who are such desperate people-pleasers that they won't even say "no" in their own defense when the dude they're on a date with puts his hand up their shirt uninvited. Instead it's the dude's job to just magically know that she doesn't want his hand up there, because rape culture. Or something. It makes no damn sense. You can't be a victim and be empowered at the same time-- pick one.

rights imply duties. in order for women to truly have equal rights there would have to be identical rights, duties and responsibilities. of course, no feminism ever demanded this, they just wanted what they saw as the goodies, not for women to die oil wildcatting

Feminism doesn't "hate men"...it just displays an indifference to male suffering that borders on the psychopathic, then tries to argue that men's issues don't exist (see Hanna Rosin's recent article about child custody), and then argues that feminism is needed to stop all those evil men who are using issues that don't exist to "take away our rights" to affirmative action, equal pay for 1/2 the work, child support, lifetime alimony, and a happy marriage after a youth of sluttiness
