As far as shit tests go, I'll admit I have a weak spot -- the feminization of males, especially young boys, drives me to seeing red.

So when I saw this article titled "Dad has perfect response when son says he wants to be 'Elsa' for Halloween" and that it praised a guy for dressing up his son (who can't be older than 5) as a Disney princess, I felt a rush of anger that I failed to contain. I mentioned it to my wife and said that the guy should win "worst father of the year on the internet" award rather than the other way around.

My wife responded, "That's not so bad, I think it's great."

I said, "If we ever have kids, the boys will be boys and the girls girls."

Her response: "If we have kids and the girls want to be tomboys and the boys want to dress up as princesses for a day, that's perfectly fine."

I felt furious but realized immediately that I was driving straight into a trap. So I dropped it entirely and shifted my focus back to the card game we were playing. "Is it my turn?"

Shutting my mouth in that moment was the right response, but a better response would have been to immediately agree and amplify as soon as she implied the guy was a good father: "You're right, he deserves several awards. He should be wearing a tiara, dancing ballet on Broadway, and sucking the president's cock at the after-party as his reward."

Moral of the story? We all have weaknesses. Know yours. Until you can control the anger and employ actual RP, just keep your mouth shut.

EDIT: It's pretty clear I failed miserably at getting my point across. Sometimes you fail shit tests, sometimes you fail to help your fellow men. Either way, it's a good reminder to shut your mouth until you have something worthwhile to say.
