Interesting findings that certainly help explain the kind of behaviour we see on reddit (/r/DarkTriadWomen, /r/FemaleDatingStrategy)

Rejection by an attractive man makes a woman more likely to subsequently not only turn down advances from unattractive men but also to see them in a negative light and develop cruel attitudes towards them.

Now why does this happen?

"In order to cushion the psychological blow of a rejection, distanciation from unattractive males reinforces a woman's self-assessment of her sexual market value."

The rejection by a high-value male (to use the FDS jargon) poses a threat a female's sense of self: if she were to accept the advances of low-value males, it would only mean that she is a low-value female herself.

Cruelty, Disgust*, aggression, bitterness, bitchiness, are buffer strategies used to protect a female's sense of self and her self-assessed sexual market value post rejection.

[*regarding Disgust: "Women have consistently higher levels of disgust than men. This sex difference is substantial in magnitude, highly replicable, emerges with diverse assessment methods, and affects a wide array of outcomes. If women consistently report higher levels of disgust in general and sexual disgust in particular (FDS subreddit is an illustration of this, feminism as a movement is a generational expression of this), this will undoubtedly colour the way they view men.
