You can control your goals and partially control your execution of your goals. You will only find happiness if you find validation in that

I used to fuck every hole I could find. Body count is 135 or so. But it doesn't lead to happiness. It stems from a pathological need for external validation. And probably burns out your ability to pair bond

Now I aim for fewer, higher quality broads and don't mind gaps between them

Yeah what you're missing is being chased. Get as attractive as you can be and get a dating app or hit bars. The whole process will get easier.

When you're in a relationship, all you want to do is "see".

When you're single, all you want to do is "be seen".

Figure out the dynamics behind that and you might figure out the difference between needy men vs. one in a state of indulgence.

You are missing something. We talk to women, we spend time with women, we fuck women, because we enjoy women like a fine watch, something to have on your arm, or a nice glass of wine on the balcony. I think you're on the right path, OP. We aren't supposed to be needy, desperate guys. We need to have a prize mentality. If you're needy, there are other ways to solve it than just fucking anything that moves. In fact, that's just feeding the neediness. 'I'm so needy for sex, that I fuck anything'. Yeah, that's attractive.

A lot of guys on here, are still thinking red pill is about fucking as many women as you can. They're also still stuck in needing female validation.
