As a STEM major who doesn't go to an American college, clubs and societies are the only ways I can make friends who aren't low-SMV genetic disasters.
I'm worried that I'm appearing as though I'm trying to hard to just fucking exist. I study computer science, write code, can sing, play guitar, play sports, act and can write stories. A far cry from the starving artist or athlete who appears as if their accomplishments are effortless just by fucking existing.
I know that a huge part of the starving artist and the athlete's appeal is effortlessness and appearing as though they're naturally awesome and intriguing without really trying. They coast through life and still come out on top.
How does a guy who studies hard maths, codes, plays sports, writes, sings, plays guitar, acts and works part-time appear "effortless?" I can't delve into the technicalities of my many hobbies because girls don't want to know how things work. They just want to feel the emotions of the results without having to think.
I can't drop any of the clubs I'm currently enrolled in because I'm a STEM major. They're the only social outlets I have. The sports clubs are the only ones that meet weekly and they're the only social outlet I have. I don't really have a passion for sports, but I do it anyway because it's either play sports or be alone. The artsy kinds of clubs only meet twice a fucking semester but I can't drop them because I love cute, artsy girls more than anything, faaaaar more than and I mesh pretty well with the hipster crowd when I don't dare to mention my major or my sports team.
