nothing in his letter was wrong factually, nor was it presented in a mean or rude way IMO. frankly, that's why she is so upset about it, because it is accurate. It spoke to the example she sets for others living a clearly unhealthy life. Being overweight is NOT like being black, or gay, or a dwarf, or disabled.... it is a condition that is both unhealthy and easily (relatively) treatable. It shouldn't be viewed as a legitimate state of being, but a condition brought on by unhealthy habits.

though the guy who wrote the email should mind his own fucking business. you shouldn't email people you dont know about anything other than business.

This is the real issue here imo. This story isn't "lol lets laugh at the fatty hamster". That guy's a moron.

I fucking love tone of this e-mail. OBESITY IS ONE OF THE WORST CHOICES PERSON CAN MAKE.

And yes, there are some people, who do NOT have this choice because of their medical condition.

But most of us do.

it is a terrible choice considering the options available... though I do understand how obese people don't feel like its a choice because they feel they lack control over their body and have a relationship with food similar to addiction.

The deal is, in my previous life, I have not seen this as a choice... and this caused lot of sadness to me. I lost weight, but seeing this quote... love it.

I understand all the reasons for being overweight because I was (considerably) not too long ago. I was, though I didn't realize it, addicted to sugar and to laziness... I still have a sweet tooth, but I use moderation... and I'm still incredibly lazy but I work hard at the gym to make up for it.

I realized one day that we are not in a singular state, but rather, constantly changing. I would keep getting progressively fatter if I kept living the way I was... or I could do something about it. Many people come to accept their weight without realizing that it will keep getting worse as, each day, you eat a few too many calories... it adds up over time.

If I could impart any wisdom on those struggling it's this: Though the pursuit to a healthier life takes patience, and persistence, and at times may not seem worth the effort.. I promise that at the end of the struggle it will have been worth every sore muscle... every drop of sweat... every piece of cake not eaten. If you are committed to eating healthy and exercising regularly and properly... within a year you won't understand why you wasted so much time to get started. THAT will be your only regret. 1 year from now you could be 1 year stronger, 1 year thinner, 1 year healthier.... or you could get 1 year weaker, fatter and sicker.

Its a change in lifestyle that lasts your entire lifetime, so dont rush.... or demand immediate results. incremental improvements are huge... and little by little you can be a better you.

sorry about the preaching... I just wish I could have convinced my past self to get started earlier.

She wasn't bullied. That's fucking stupid. She was sent a private email, and it would have stayed private unless she, oh, I dunno, AIRED IT ON TELEVISION.

She fucking bullied herself so she could hamster about bullying. Twat.

That's why I put "bullied" with the quotation marks. It was sarcasm

What the hell kind of husband thinks to himself: "This man sent my wife an e-mail criticising her weight. I do not agree with this, so I will post it on a public social media website"?

She has a point, however. It's a bit primitive to claim she's setting a bad example based on her weight alone. Nobody's perfect and nobody will ever be. I'm sure the author of that e-mail, as polite as it may have been, could also do things better when it comes to being a role model for the children in his life.

It's extremely disappointing that she would consider this bullying, however. It diminishes the actual meaning of the word and makes real bullying, the kind which leads to depression and suicide, seem ridiculous. If anything, her blowing this stranger's opinion out of proportion is what is setting a horrible example.
