Offensive doesn't mean wrong, little lady.

[–]Clauderoughly17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Does to feminists.

Also if you offend them, it's as if you raped their brains, and you should go to jail.

Freedom of expression and freedom of thought are integrally linked and what this woman is discussing here is a backdoor way of making certain ways of looking at the world into thought crimes.

I thought the curtailing of freedom of thought would come from corporatism or something of that ilk. Then again, these huge rifts, these inequalities that just get poked further open when a reality-check could close them further... I wonder if maybe there is a social engineering strategy behind it, and if even the feminine imperative is a pawn in making sure there are strong ideological divides to be exploited for so many possible reasons.

In any event, this idea she is promulgating would be terrifying if it weren't for the backlash to this kind of thinking that is gathering strength even as people like her are proposing more and more extremist and anti-choice, anti-freedom 'solutions' to what they perceive as problems. Problems that are really roadblocks to the dominance of their ideologies, their social groups, their tribe.

I swear we aren't a mature society anymore. We have, as a society at least, degenerated into metaphorical children. Mature thinkers do not believe that any scholarly discourse is advanced by stifling points of view that do not fall in line with a special interest group's core beliefs. I guess the only remedy is to be mature in response - do not engage, write what you believe, treat the world and people around you as if this toxic ideology never existed or at least as if nobody in their right minds would take it seriously.

I hope she goes all in and graduates with a PH.d in Women's studies with $300K in debt.

Then she learns about job market justice.

This is a logical progression considering women are making up a greater and greater percentage of the academic population in the US.

You are going to see even such top rated places as Harvard and Stanford become shitholes of Social Justice and feminist bullshit.

Sandra Y.L. Korn ’14, a Crimson editorial writer, is a joint history of science and studies of women, gender and sexuality concentrator in Eliot House. Her column usually appears on alternate Mondays.

Tells you everything you need to know

Implying they aren't already

[–]Clauderoughly5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Moreso than they are now.

Stanford business school is already rotting, as it is lowering its standards to allow more women in.

[–]charlie_bodango0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The thing is, after these places self destruct and lose credibility and reputation, some others will take this as an example. Just like the all-woman workplace, how much good science and engineering could a femenist-junta run school really produce?

[–]analrapeage3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Love the 'history of science' major. I mean why should I study actual science when I can just repeat back to you what was discovered?

This is the hamster, she's a woman's studies major and is of little use to society.

Oy vey.

Do you think it's possible that feminism is actually a plan of uggos to change the society in such a way that men are sort of forced to find them attractive? I mean, whenever I read this type of article and I look at the author's picture, it's always the same - unfeminine and unkempt, just look at her eyebrows, UGH. And their topics are always following the same line, how to redefine beauty, fat acceptance etc.

Edit: The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Hear me out: We know for a fact that women constantly compete with each other, not by becoming better, but by dragging other women down (slut shaming is a perfect example). Let's examine the idea of "rape culture". It implies that all men are rapists and that they target any even remotely attractive woman. So, what is the solution? Why, of course, to make all women unattractive. In this way, uggos level the playing field in their favor.

[–]TannhauserOverture3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is EXACTLY what it is. Imagine Feminism being the moderatly overweight girl that always cooks for her roommates (and inserts extra butter to fatten them up). Also she misses no opportunity to tell the fat girl across the hall how beautiful and "healthy" she is looking today.

Most religions are of little use to society. Her strategy is brilliant actually. I cant win a debate using logic, therefore I will make it illegal to use logic.

If the University isn't the place to freely discuss and debate ideas, where is?

Not trying to be an ass, but if you're reading something written by feminists you should consider dropping your major. I can't imagine any productive work that requires womens/blacks/american studies.

When in Rome do as the Romans do. Most Professors are smart guys, so he is most likely pushing this crap while he is fucking half of his female student.

[–]analrapeage2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Such a long and educated letter, but missing an easy fact: 'justice' is subjective and can easily be distorted. Hence the whole point of academic freedom. Unfortunately this BP attitude of argument based on feels rather than logic is infecting an entire generation.

[–]AlmostRP2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As long as her idea of justice is served, amirite? As long as the prevailing politics are "correct" then there's no problem. I wonder if she'd have the same opinion if the politics were against her.

[–]Hlewagastiz1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This kind of Orwellian thoughtcrime-policing absolutely sickens me.

[–]Trpdoc0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've been at three top 5 institutions for undergrad/med school/residency and i assure you that feminist attitudes are very strong at these places and the beta ratio is disproportionately high

[–]SgtBrutalisk0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

to resist rape a woman needs … a certain ladylike modesty

Well, if that isn't a common sense approach to "rape culture", then I don't know what is. Too bad women are so weak and can't resist being pushed onto the cock carousel by the invisible hands of patriarchy...
