At this point, I assume women are lying about rape, because they are taught to by other women. Culturally the message is being transmitted that it's okay to cry rape over anything. They are not held accountable.

I've heard shitty things about Conor Oberst before but my money is by default on "she made it up" when I read stories like this, and I see no evidence that would make me waver from the default stance.

In December, an individual left a series of posts in the comments section of an XOJane article—a story about an abusive rock star boyfriend—suggesting that she had been raped by Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes 10 years ago.

I guess this is how you share the terrible pain of the trauma you received a decade ago and have been suffering from ever since: by casually mentioning it in the comments section of an article on the internet.

"Conor took a lot from me including my virginity, my dignity, and self-esteem."

"I wish I'd let someone else nail me first, I wish I felt the way movies told me I'm supposed to, and my opinion of myself = everyone else's opinion of me".

Girls need to start realizing that you can't just say things online that are false and expect no one to question them; no one to get angry. I'm glad that he's taking this action. I like some of his music. He is kinda smart in a way that he started a record label in the middle of bum fuck Nebraska and won the hearts of emo kids everywhere.

But I think the guy is just too much of a pussy to ever have the drive for the raw energy that it would take to dominate and over power even a 16 year old girl.
