I have some acquaintances that display several of these traits:

Parasitic - They still live with their parents.

Reckless - All have been arrested and one spent some time in jail.

Charming - All three of them managed to date bombshells for the better part of senior year, dumping them to get with other girls.

I could go on and on. But the fact is that these types of guys effortlessly clean house with girls.

Parasitic - They still live with their parents.

You are aware of what globalisation has done to the west right? Shrinking middle class, increasing social inequality. Seen the price of property? I'm sure in some cases you could say it was parasitic, but many many other people simply have no alternative. This isn't the 70's unfortunately.

[–]radicaIcentrist 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not just "the west" lol

Saying "the west" when you're actually talking about "developed societies" makes you look like a pseudointellectual.

lol

so butthurt

I guess I wasn't expecting a positive response to my comment

I just hate when people misuse the term "west" or "western"

try not to take it too personally

I haven't, I just don't care give a flying fuck if people on the internet want to question my credibility. You are correct in your assertion about it being developed societies and not just the west.

Trust me, it does not cost a damn thing to live on your own here (Midwest). You can get a nice 1 bedroom apartment for like $500 a month. I've even seen some go for $450 ish.

I could also cite other examples like the fact that they've been bouncing from job to job for the better part of 5 years after their employers get tired of their shit. I just thought that was the easiest one.

Are there any jobs in this cheap ass place? If there is I might move over from England.

[–]j_arbuckle2012 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Learn a skilled trade and move to flyover land. Good money, decent women, and no stress lifestyle. Pretty good, depending where you go.

It seriously is. Mike Rowe has a website on the dearth of skilled tradesmen in the US. I know you're in the UK (I think), but I'm pretty sure it's the same over there. You'll never make huge amounts of money doing it (not unless you're a master craftsman), but it's a great way to have a full-time job while still keeping your options open and it's masculine as hell. Chicks love that down and dirty I-work-with-my-hands vibe.

Something no one, including heartiste, seems to address in these examinations of sociopaths and their ilk, is how specifically they are "charming"

We know paying empty compliments and putting women on a pedestal doesnt work, so what specifically is considered charming about their interaction?

[–]dazed111 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

charming is unfortunately a word that is never defined

What is this?

[–]asd1100 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

charm, from what worked for me, fun playful frame with the main role to elicit narcissistic and regressive behavior from the participants, no narcisism and no arrogance from your part, you are a director not the lead actor and keep the focus on the fun and help the other participants open up.

In practical sense you approach a group, break their frame and reset their interaction to a more relaxed low tension dynamic.

Example,

aproach 3 girls, one hot, one that thinks is smart and one ugly.

_how are you tonigh?

bla bla answer

awesome, I know you're the naughty one and would break my hearth(to the ugly chick) but which one of you 2 is the nice one ( to the others)?

[–]FortunateBum 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think part of their charm is DHV and signifying high status. They tell lies about their life that imply wealth, status, etc.

[–]Crazystarf 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps the greatest advantage that Stanley had during this excerpt was that he had no concept of fear; you are more likely to attempt recklessness if you don't fear the consequences.

I believe Ted Bundy was also the same way?

[–]TRP VanguardYouDislikeMyOpinion[S] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The great thing for him was that as he survived through the risks, and due to getting higher rewards and learning how people work better with every risk, it only served to lower the future risk of his future actions.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a really good deduction from the piece that heartiste himself failed to make.

Or dead, which is the primary thing I'm concerned for with myself and my thrill seeking.

I'm going to also go counter to what you said and say that there are extreme strengths to that behavior if it is done by someome who is not a natural psychopath/sociopath.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yes. psychopaths have bore the way into women's psychology through millennia of emotional "arms race". In so doing, they have created a tunnel directly into the hearts of women that we, the enlightened alphas, use at their expense.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychopathy#Primary_and_secondary

Check this out. I think the idea of thinking there is only one form of psychopathy is flawed and wrong. The negative effects you described here often go hand in hand with secondary psychopathy, because these people lack self control. Primary psychopaths are often very good at controlling themselves. (Not that hard really, when you consider that most don't really have a lot of strong feelings at all).

[–]autowikibot 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Section 6. Primary and secondary of article Psychopathy:

Several researchers have argued that there exist two variants of psychopathy. There is also empirical support for separating persons scoring high on the PCL-R into two groups that do not simply reflect Factor 1 and Factor 2. There is at least preliminary evidence of differences regarding cognition and affect as measured in laboratory tests. Different theories characterize these two variants somewhat differently.

Compared to "primary" psychopaths, "secondary" psychopaths have been characterized as having more fear, anxiety, and negative emotions. They are often seen as more impulsive and with more reactive anger and aggression. David T. Lykken, using Gray's biopsychological theory of personality, argued that primary psychopaths innately have little fear while secondary psychopaths innately have increased sensitivity to rewards. Studies also suggest that secondary psychopaths manifest more borderline personality features than primary psychopaths, and comparable levels of antisocial behavior.

There are also different theories as to the predominant causes of either variant. Some researchers, such as Benjamin Karpman, believe that primary psychopaths are born with an emotional deficit and that secondary psychopaths acquire it through adverse environmental experiences, although others, such as Lykken, link both variants to biological predispositions. Some preliminary research suggests that secondary psychopaths may have had a more abusive childhood, a higher risk of future violence, and potentially a better response to treatment.

a homeless psychopath will bang more girls than a successful beta, or even a semisuccessful alpha.

[–]July_Winter 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

A homeless psychopath is not banging anyone. More likely he or she is sucking dick for crack money.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I know a lot of drug dealers who live with their parents who just go around banging girls and making barely enough money to live on.

The best way to bang a lot of girls? Sponsor a drug dealer to bring girls over to fuck you. That is how beta bux hires some alpha fux

[–]July_Winter 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not exactly homeless if they're living with their parents. Not to mention the reason the girls are there in the first place. Drugs.

EDIT: not all drug dealers are psychopaths btw.

Why not, can your internet ID be tracked to real life? If so be careful they're "watching"!

Just kidding, I apologize if I came of as an asshole, that was not my intent, I just found the mention of the "rush" and the lack of "fear" as being really spot on, despite not reading about it in "pop sci" books that deal with the subject, so I was curious to see if this model comes for first (or second) hand acounts or just specialty literature.

[–]BruceIsTheBatman 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Psychopaths don't experience anxiety in the same way most do. That alone says everything. It takes more than just mimicking what they do.

[–]Abbrevi8 -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No anxiety, no doubt, 100% frame control and 100% confidence in themselves.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I dont like how the article is framed. Stanley is labelled a 'psychopath' and this is painted as an us vs them scenario. One could take away that going full psycho gets pussy, power, and riches. A good but moot point. There are countless other examples of how average everyday people are turned into creatures they dare not comprehend. Look at milgram or zimbardos experiments. Or even the women in this writeup. If we can turn an average guy into a submissive prisoner, a hardass rapey guard, or a torturer, or a married woman into a slut, of course some psychopath can charm his way to the top. The bigger point is almost every one of us are a few conversations away from a madonna or a whore, a nazi or a civilian, a torturer or a torturee. To limit this only to psychopaths and scoring misses the point.

[–]j_arbuckle2012 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Heartiste mainly deals with getting pussy. Also all of those things that people can turn into require great catalysts for them to turn into those things. One does not simply go around torturing people if one is a normal human being.

A psychopath? He does. He does it for fun, and then uses his ability to manipulate ("charm" in this instance) to get away with it. That's what makes them dangerous. That's why we should study them specifically.

[–]TRP VanguardYouDislikeMyOpinion[S] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

For those of you that relationships still hold favor for:

All it takes is one psychopath to push her buttons and instill whatever emotions he desires from her.

How do you feel about that?

[–]3trplurker 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Just means I have to be that one psychopath. I've already removed most of what was left of my morality.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You can desensitise but you can't annihilate.

[–]3trplurker 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You most certainly can. Human's aren't born with morals or ethics, they are programmed in by society. Unprogramming them isn't easy, just when you think you've gotten rid of something it props up in the smallest corner of your mind, but it is doable.

If you sat down and really went over your own list of behavioral rules you'd be shocked at the amount of it that isn't yours. Most of the junk in there is stuff we didn't sit down and consciously decide on. It's where the behavioral patterns that we call "beta" are kept. Most of the things TRP discusses are ways to remove that bad programming and replace it with more masculine programming that better fits the nature of man. If you can replace that then why not replace the rest of the bullshit that's in there.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You most certainly can.

Yes desensitisation will elicit neural plasticity, you don't actually believe you're going to destroy a neural connection do you? Desensitisation is essentially weakening the neural connection, to what extent is based upon the plasticity of said persons brain and their methods for utilising it. We're almost in agreement here, except you contend "you can annihilate morality" and hence that you can completely sever neural connections, which I disagree with, I contend you can only reduce their effectiveness/strength.

Human's aren't born with morals or ethics,

That's not been proven, it's still a topic of hot debate, studies have been conducted with babies which suggest that babies younger than 8 months have a concept of good and bad.

Psychologist Kiley Hamlin expected the 8-month old to pick the “good” puppet. Hundreds of studies had already confirmed that infants, 166 of the 188 tested by Hamlin, prefer the helper puppets in experimental “morality plays” (where, for example, the “good” puppet returns a ball to another puppet, while the “bad” puppet steals the ball). What did surprise Hamlin, the director of University of British Columbia’s Centre for Infant Cognition, was what came next. In the next scene, the “good” and “bad” puppets played with a new puppet, who either rewarded each puppet with a toy or punished by taking away a toy. Hamlin assumed that babies would prefer the puppet who awarded the good one; but she was shocked to find that babies also favored the puppet that punished the bad one. She repeated the study with younger children — and even 4-month-olds approved of harming those who harmed others.

Biologically speaking, we do behave morally insofar as it furthers our reproduction agenda. Female hypergamy is an example of this. This sort of moral behavior really is inborn as we wouldn't have survived as a species if it wasn't.

I do agree though, the marvelous thing about humans is that we have oodles of neuroplasticity, our minds can and will change given effort, time, and a catalyst. Stress innoculation, for example, is one way the military uses neuroplasticity to quickly and effectively train recruits with vital skills. However, I think you are missing the point when it comes to psychopaths. Whereas normal humans will have emotional reactions to the things they do and have emotional drives, a psychopath is extremely muted or doesn't feel emotion altogether. This can be taught, as is the case with the postulated "secondary" psychpath, but it is also possible to be born with these traits. And if you are a normal, mentally healthy human being you cannot completely eliminate these reactions, you can only mute your response to them.

[–]3trplurker 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those aren't morals. Instincts are amoral by nature. Morals require a conscious choice to be made about something, you don't get to chose your instincts.

I don't think that's a good state to strive for. You're more likely to wind up dead or in prison instead of a hot girl's bedroom
