This is exactly why online dating is generally a waste of time. Many of the men who populate OKCupid and its ilk are so desperate for female attention that they will vigorously pursue the obviously fake profile of an insane woman.

This is how girls who are 6s (at most) come to believe that they are in fact 9s, and as such will immediately disqualify you for not being 6'4" tall.

My girlfriend pointed this out to me and rolled her eyes about men after I'd already seen the article.

I told her that from my perspective it looks like the profile of someone who's actually making a joke and who seems pretty funny in a sarcastic kind of way.

If I were single I probably would have messaged her just for shits and giggles. The same way I'm sure a guy with over the top being terrible posts would get some interest just by being different.

TL;DR not surprised, profile is funny and would message myself.

This fake profile was created by a women that doesn't know anything about women. Put a ugly pic up, problem solved. But even the ugly ones get some dick once in their lives, so I'm not sure what they are trying to prove.

And infact this profile isn't that bad. This would seem like your relatively good looking generic ditsy white girl sorority chick supported by her family with no care in the world.

Girl puts up okcupid profile with pic of a very attractive model. Fills profile with passive aggressive warning signs that the girl is a total jackass. Is shocked - shocked I say! to find that - some guys either think she's joking, don't understand women well enough to understand that their are "warning signs" - or just plain don't care that a super hot girl appears to be a total trainwreck.

A woman's SMV (for ONS) is primarily physical. The only way in a pure sex market to have value is in the packaging. So it doesn't matter what she puts in the post.

A friend has an OKCupid and routine gets girls talking to him. He has 4 pictures each designed to appear as charming, strong, sensitive, and down-to-earth.

The point is, it's 90% photos.

This "journalist" is preying upon horny lonely desperate guys and is shocked when she puts up a picture of a model and they respond.

I read the supposedly horrible profile she made up and it's actually pretty damn close to the trash you generally see online. Fake profile or not, it was very realistic and actually quite competitive given all the other trashy women online: fatties, uggos, single moms, extreme narcissism, incredible stupidity and just general insanity. At least, this is what I remember from my area from a few years ago (haven't done online dating since).

If I didn't know it was a troll account, I would 100% believe it was real without hesitation. So ironically, despite her trying to show how terrible men are, the author ends up making women look bad.
