This is a great example of how women (and, frankly, most men) really feel about people who obsess over them. Obsession is at best obnoxious and pathetic, and worst stifling and dangerous.
This is why one-itis is so dangerous. You can loose the love and respect of someone if you let yourself love them too much.

I don't mind it when people are moderately-obsessed with me, it's nice to have a fan club (even if that fan club is only 1 person). But yeah, overly obsessive quickly translates to possessive, and it's not cool when someone is possessive of you.

I wish I was like that woman. She has no empathy and I envy her. Life would be easier if I didn't care about people, actually scratch that, if I didn't care about feelings of women.
As for that guy, let it be a lesson for few of you here who still believe that "love conquers all". Don't be a sucker.

Men who are far enough down the sociosexual hierarchy are essentially invisible to women. This is a very good example of this in action.

her not caring about his death is fine; why should she give a shit it was ten years ago
but she certainly should feel guilty about cheating on him when she was his "first love." i love the euphemism:
"Over the course of our relationship there were a lot of firsts. He lost his virginity. I learned how to cheat on a partner."
implying she cheated multiple times, but from the way she said it if you were reading quick her cheating wouldn't even have registered on your mind, especially since that was literally all she had to say about it. but go on and on about dave and how clingy and needy he was yeah.

Down thread she states is was 3 or 4 sessions of "high school cheating" which she defined as second base.
She never fucked around on him and broke up with this guy when she was 18.
Frankly, she's not the bad guy here. All she's guilty of is not caring about an obsessive ex-boyfriend from high-school.

well i guess i'll go kiss a bunch of other girls and grab their tits now that i can tell my girlfriend "it was only high school cheating, why are you pissed?"
[–]TehGinjaNinja0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Basically yeah. Don't get me wrong I'd expect your GF to be pissed, but "I didn't have sex with any of them" is a mitigating defense; especially if we're talking about teenagers. Teenagers are children, they're petty and impulsive. You might as well get mad at water for being wet.
As far as this case goes:
She was never really attracted to this guy. She only stayed with him for as long as she did because she was pressured to by him and by their community. There's no reason to go "slut-shaming" this girl because she fooled around on a boy-friend she never wanted.

The irony of devotion being a lie is that its a built in self destruction mechanism that you give every woman at onset, and take away one archetype at a time with the realization of the impossibility of their fealty in a world of equidistance.
Love, that kind of love, is one that can only exist in a vacuum. I've been both, and frankly that's no better realization to be either.

A part of me feels really sorry for poor stupid Dave. The other part feels like he deserves it because weak men like him will never amount to much. I don't even know.

I don't really see the problem with any of that post, other than the fact that Dave needed to move on 10 years ago.
