Let me give you a literally equivalent example.

I am of average build with a rediculous metabolism. I eat a ton. I also eat lots of sugar. People are always making fun of me. "Hey there's UberCuber, hey how much candy have you eaten today?" If I ever bring my lunch into a meeting everyone always gawks at the sheer volume of what I'm eating.

Do I think these people should be arrested and charged with a crime? Not in a thousand years. I choose to have a lifestyle filled with delicious sugary goodness, and one of the prices I pay for that is being pointed out as abnormal in that aspect.

A law that forces one person to associate with another person is authoritarian.

Btw the reason you're fat is because you consume more calories than you burn. If you reverse that relationship you will eventually look ripped.

Trigger warning, I'm about to sound totally fucking libtarded. I think the idea of hate crimes is ridiculous and special punishments for them are absurd, however laws against discrimination are fairly important when actually applied where unfairness and injustice are exhibited. Moving on, being fat is either a disease or a lifestyle choice. A disease can only sometimes be helped, and a lifestyle choice is every free man's right. And sometimes, that's just who you are. I have always, always, always been husky. I ran cross country in high school and at 5'10" 190 lbs I still could run a 3.1 mile race in 28 minutes. Not varsity but still probably faster than you. I am 37 now and about 210, I take muay thai kickboxing classes, bicycle everywhere and I'm strong as a fucking ox. I don't even eat that badly. But I'm still built like Meatloaf (the singer, not the dinner.) And yes, I have seen a good measure of discrimination and condescension. I like to think that if a woman or a "minority" can seek justice for being deprived of just treatment in the workplace due to how they look then I should as well.

This kind of law gets voted in for the stupid reason that politicians need something to do to justify their salary. Similar situation: in Quebec, the road workers half-ass road work so they can have assured work in a few years. This means that the same roads are being repaired again and again. Look up Quebec potholes to know the sorry state of the province's roads.

I'm saying that politicians do the same thing. Since a politician is paid to make laws, participate in committees, etc..., they will always find ways to make things illegal to keep justifying their salary. Basically, the politician's ''I have to keep my job and salary'' instinct sees every current kind of law (for lack of a better name), like environmental laws, laws constricting free speech, equality, etc... as a way to make more law and keep their salary.

So I'm saying that this kind of bullshit will always happen and more and more things will be criminalized (as is the current trend, see Illegal Everything by John Stossel).
