First up, cynicism is quite literaly

Which is basically TRP. So, yeah. Is it cowardice to want to face things as they are, instead of talking about how we thing they should be?

One never trusts anothers' motives before they have proven to you that you can. It's not cowardice to look out for yourself, it's a hard-wired insinct.

The concept of something being "cowardice" instead of "reasonable self-preservation" only comes into play when there are others who stand to gain from you not attempting self-preservation at that point, or when it would be reasonable to expect you to face whatever is making you want to run, be it a playground bully, a gun or a spider.

Sometimes this is necessary - what soldier actually wants to storm a machine gun nest? But they still do it, because their sense of duty is greater than their self-preservation instincts, and their mates are relying on them to get it done. In this case, a man who didn't do his duty could be reasonably accused of cowardice. Sometimes it is stupid - any woman who says "men are just intimidated by my success" is accusing men of cowardice, when their behaviour is usually reasonable.

So yes, I guess the meaning of my rambling is that Stefan Molyneux doesn't know what he's talking about in this case. It's a pretty little saying, but that doesn't make it true.

It's the difference between the "bitter phase", and the acceptance stage of the Red Pill.

Bitter phase : the world sucks.

Acceptance : I suck, better improve myself.

Cowardice is not accepting full responsibility for where you are in life, and not putting in the effort to get where you want to be. It's finding excuses, rejecting the blame on society, women, feminists or what-have-you, as a reason for not doing what you need to do to raise your own value and achieve your goals.

It's knowing what the Game is like, and refusing to play because you suck at it.

Well, being a cynic can be viewed as failing to rise above your problems. Instead of striving to be a better person and overcome, you give into the comforts of complacency and perpetual anger. Think of Nietzsche. During his time, he felt God was dead, but the morality of it remained, because to the ruling class, the appearance of religiosity encouraged a docile society. He thought their inability to eradicate religion and move forward with new human virtues was cowardice, because they didn't have the heart to gaze into the abyss of what is essentially a meaningless existence. To him, the cynic is the person who fails to accept life as it is, instead he persists in delusion. A lot of the religious people know that their conception of Jesus/Mohammed/Whoever isn't real, but would prefer the comfort because they don't have the strength to peer into nothingness and grab their own meaning from it.

In an RP context, this would be never leaving the anger phase. If you want to have sex with women or have a LTR, but you're always angry at women because you fail to accept the sexual dynamics as they are, you are a cynic. In giving in to the comforts of a complacent lifestyle (constant stream of porn/video games, always reading here, never improving), you have been defeated by cynicism. If you're able to gaze into the abyss of what you believed you knew about love, romance, and women, but still rise above and hit the gym, engage in relationships, pursue a passion, and find your own personal meaning and happiness, you've defeated it.

Stefan Molyneaux is a narcissist leading a cult-like movement called de-FOO.

Some things he says are right.

Most of it is manipulative bullshit. I rank his speaking at -100 for useful truth. Especially this.

Being a cynic is a hallmark of wisdom provided you can actually link a cynical view/caution to real facts in the real world.
