They are being retarded. It's not even an outlandish preference, there are numerous sexual kinks and relationship arrangements to which both men and women consent.

Ask them if it's weird if a girl says she wants a "dominant" partner. If they say "Yes", they are just playing dumb and doing whatever they can to act contrary to you - really just to put you down and make you feel bad/submit to their group influence. Don't take it personally, friends are just like that sometimes.
