For those who don't know him , the Duke of Lauzun , was one of the first and greatest womanizers in history. He has seduced many women in the King Louis' court , among them was the Grande Mademoiselle(whom he later married, while he was a low rank Marquis at the time). The Duke was ugly , short(almost a dwarf) and a very low rank(till his marriage elevated him).

Some part from the wiki : Meanwhile, Anne, Duchess of Montpensier (La Grande Mademoiselle) had fallen in love with the little man, whose ugliness seems to have exercised a certain fascination over many women.

Ok we know the guy had preselection from many women but how did he reach there? Also he had slept with one of the king's Mistresses and many other women in the court.

From another story : One of the greatest womanizers in history , the Duke of Lauzun , was a master at exciting a woman , then suddenly , acting aloof. Women went wild over him.

The guy was a low ranked Marquis till he married the Grande Mademoiselle . From the story we know that :

The Marquis was a brave soldier with an acid wit. Although he was short and certainly not handsome, his impudent manners and his military exploits made him irresistible to women.

When the Marquis was at a low rank he met and successfully seduced the Grand Mademoiselle of France. He approached her as a friend and started to talk about poetry and other subjects which fascinated the Mademoiselle. She began to idealize him although the Marquis was in reality , a horrible scoundrel. She began to talk to him about marriage , but he didn't seem to get the message and asked her why would she want to marry , since she could have any man she wanted?

When alone , the Mademoiselle began to think about him and her emotions shifted : The notorious ladies man was only interested in her friendship? He wasn't interested in her as a woman?

Meanwhile strange emotions were catching up to her in his absence. She noted in her diary: After troubling myself for days, I realised that it was the M. De Lauzun ,who I love...... It was he who somehow slipped into my heart , and captured it.

Later , the King proposed that his brother should marry her. The Mademoiselle was disgusted, clearly she thought , he wanted to get his hands on her fortune. She asked Lauzun his opinion . As the kings royal servants , he said , we must obey the royal wish. His answer did not please her and to make things worse , he stopped visiting her , since their friendship seemed wrong , and stayed absent even during the court's events. This was the last straw. The Grand Mademoiselle refused the offer(a decision cleverly provoked by Lauzun when he stopped visiting her) and that was it. She later asked the Duke to be the one to marry her. The Duke pretended to be surprised. But not as surprised as the Court was when it was announced that the Grand Mademoiselle of France was married to the low ranked Don Juan. A woman known both for her virtue and honor and her skills at defending them.
