AUTHENTICITY

Authenticity is when you are intentions, emotions, thoughts and actions are aligned. In congruence with one another. Carl Rogers states “Where a person’s ideal self and actual experience are consistent or very similar, a state of congruence exists.” If you’ve ever said to yourself “It was meant to be” it’s an eerily similar scenario. Here’s how I was taught Congruence.

INTENTIONS

This is fairly straightforward. What do you want? If you don’t know; take this sage advice Chris Rock get's and make Money your default mission. Until you find one of your own.

EMOTIONS

Emotions are necessary. You need to feel GOOD about what you’re doing; and more importantly; why you’re doing it. If there’s doubt review your intentions and realign them.

THOUGHTS

A goal without a plan is just a dream. Plan. Everything. Even if it’s a short-term goal; time frame it. Want to go out this weekend? Choose a spot then invite people whose company you enjoy. If it’s a 10-year plan; time frame that too. Considering F.I.R.E.? Plan that shit out and factor in as many variables as imaginable. Then mitigate the risks and maximise the potential. Teach yourself to be detail oriented because the real money’s in the minutiae.

ACTION

Execute. This one is simple. Follow the plan. Bring to reality that which you’ve envisioned. Yes you’ll face adversity and yes it’s hard; but it's path YOU'VE chosen. Framing Authenticity this way is valuable because at any point you can review then realign your intentions as you see fit.

SUMMARY

This key lesson I was fortunate enough to learn early. Congruence; being authentic in who you are and that depth behind your actions can fuel great resilience and confidence. Whatever your goals; whether it’s your intention to spin plates; form an LTR or even just approach; master framing congruence and your authenticity will show.
