Best way to do this is to have a reason. Just talking to a girl for a few minutes and going for the number gets you nowhere. Even if you have had great rapport you have no real reason to need her number.

Try to set up something before leaving her. Ex. "Hey have you ever been bowling?" Her - (response yes or no it doesn't matter). "I'm going tomorrow night, wanna come?"

Ans: (yes) : I'll text you tomorrow (as your handling her your phone) hope you aren't a sore loser. (Keep the chit chat going).

Ans: (no, she'll also probably say she has plans) : no worries, we'll have to get together again. I'll text you when I'm free (as you hand her your phone). (Again keep the banter going).

Move closer and say "here, give me your number" and drop your phone into her hand. Be firm and strong in your actions.

When she says "how about my Snapchat" I say I don't use snapchat. Unnecessary waste of space, time and validation.

I don't know. Sometimes I get a new cell phone or switch providers and I don't know my own phone number because I never dial it. If she's DTF you can set it up by email or carrier pigeon.
