If you live in US you are already in a big part unnecessarily paying taxes to:

A healthcare system that punishes you for being a bachelor (called Obongocare)

A prison system hosting the biggest prison population on the planet

Welfare for the undeserving who would rather abuse the system than use it for a temporary period in real need

And my favourite: a tax agency that would hunt you to the end of the world to pay tax for money you make living abroad ( hence why plenty of people dropped their citizenships)

Still, so far I know only US and Switzerland employ these rules of taxing people for their labour done while living outside the country. Compared to US barely anyone wants to leave Switzerland, while considering this next thing:

Unless you go to a country without taxes (like Middle East area) you got to pay the income tax where you live AND the tax on income to the IRS. Factor in the cost of living like rent, food and a car loan, and you're not left with much in hand. As far as I know not all American expats live in the Middle East, for example there is this fashion now between middle-aged Americans to move to Europe, wait those 3-5 years to get citizenship and drop their American citizenship due to taxes. I personally know a few couples that did this.

This feels more like a statement they wanted to make rather than economic hardship. It sounds silly to complain about higher taxes and move to Europe. It is like complaining it is too cold in Kansas city and move to Fargo.

Well imagine that while living in Europe as an American you pay your first series of taxes to the government of your resident country, then whatever you have left you pay the second series to the American guberment. In a lot of cases you'd have to pay the minimum percentage (15% if I reckon correctly) and that's what's shit.
