When it comes to attracting women, why does it have to be this way for men?

The premise of the article is flawed. It assumes that men aren't actually masculine, and don't really want to be masculine, but feel pressured to pretend to be masculine, and Trump somehow exploited this.

Most men really are masculine, and most men who aren't that masculine want to be more masculine. It's not a game of make-believe, and we're all really just like women but pretending we're manly to avoid being laughed at and called gay. We're actually men.

The problem is the things we needed masculinity for are going away. What we have left appeals to both or women specifically. Neither do much to ensure men appear masculine, feel masculine, etc. On the contrary.

Secret insecurity is an easy claim to make because you don't need any evidence for it

That's exactly what a secretly insecure person would say!

There is definitely some truth to this being a reason for Trump's appeal. But the question is, how do we fix this if people deem it a problem?

I dont think there really is a solution to help men that isn't anti feminist (especially these 2007ish to the present 4th wave feminist views), so do they go to Trump for this reason?

There is some chicken and the egg stuff going on here.

What do you think of the article?

I think it is just garbage "Trump is bad and the people who like him are bad an insecure".

Does it match what you've observed?

Most of the Trump supporters I have met and talked to are:

a) Relatively Intelligent

b) Young Men

The people I talk to in situation a) could be insecure about their manhood or masculinity, but there is no apparent tells. In situation b) it is young men, which may be insecure about their masculine identity because they are young.

Men don't feel comfortable outside of the classic male role so they're using politics to manufacture a similar dynamic within the current framework. When thinking about it that way what they're doing is obvious, and sad.

Men want to be breadwinners, but women want to work.

Make sex outside of marriage difficult, make the consequences unbearably harsh, shift the burden to women as much as possible. Easy.

Make abortion illegal, now sex and men are a package deal. Abolish welfare/child support, now her child won't survive unless she does what he says. Argue that they're both in the name of equality so women seem like baby killing welfare queens that no one will want to support. Rinse and repeat until women lack the agency to stop the rapid unraveling of every right or opportunity she ever had to work outside of the home. Done.

The same logic can be applied to every masculine trait. The course of action will always result in a covert reorganization that ends with trapping everyone, whether they agree or not, into a system that gives them power so they can better destroy whatever will keep anyone else from having any.
