So a little background on this girl. We knew each other vaguely from high school and stopped talking for about ~6 years. We met each other again on Tinder recently. As soon as I met her, there were a few things I knew that were going to be an obstacle.

-I met her right before the holidays, so at this point in my life, I'm working 6 days a week until New Years' is over and nighttime dates are going to be hard to set up. -She told me that her grandmother is moving to a nursing home when we first started talking again. It turned out that her grandmother died before our 2nd date.

Our first date went pretty well. I took her for a nighttime walk through the woods and through a park in the town we both used to live in and we saw about 8 deer frolick through a field. I think I passed her shit tests pretty well and I constantly escalated little by little, culminating in a kiss at the end of the date. She got a call from her dad about her grandma, so we had to cut our date short. At the end, I tell her that "Hey, I should show you my hometown next time. How does next Wednesday sound?"

She seemed all for it and even asked if we were still down for Wednesday. I kept the texts short that week, built rapport, asked her about her grandma, and asked if we were still on for Wednesday. She even agreed to meet at my place and we would drive over to a local coffee shop. The plan after coffee was to invite her back to my place. Wednesday morning rolls around and I get a text saying:

"Hey, I accidentally told my parents that I was going to see you in your hometown today. They don't want me driving that far, so can we meet somewhere in the middle again?"

This is where I'm pretty sure I fucked up. She knew that by parking at my place like we originally planned, sex would be on the table. I remember that she mentioned on our first date that she would probably be spending NYE with some guy friends (red flag.) who live even farther away than I do. Thinking that this was a shit test, I replied:

"Wait a sec, you're 22 and have a Bachelor's Degree. What happened to being a responsible adult and independence? If they're really that concerned, tell them that we can meet at this place in Loustown."

She replied:

"Yeah, that's what we should do. Let's just meet at Lousplace in Loustown at 1:00."

So I stupidly agreed with her instead of cancelling and rescheduling so that we could have our original plans. She even told me that her older sister followed her down on her way to work. It wasn't a bad date, but I couldn't escalate past what we did on the first date, so I wasn't happy with how I presented myself.

Sure enough, she flaked out. When I brought up a potential 3rd date, I got nothing back from her. I gave her 2 days to reply and I soft nexted her. I deleted her off Tinder and any social media, but didn't block her number. I have a plate spinning, so abundance mentality kept me from developing oneitis towards this chick anyway. I'm pretty sure I was too concerned with upsetting her or pushing anything, knowing that she was dealing with her grandmother's death, and I dropped frame as a result. How would you guys have handled it when she tried to change our 2nd date?

EDIT: I just asked a girl out for coffee on tinder and "maybe" some Netflix at my place afterward and ironically got the same "overprotective parents, bla bla, let's meet here instead" shit test from another girl who is in town for break.

We're meeting up for coffee and some Netflix at my place tomorrow. Thanks, TRP.
