As far as I know, it was a power struggle thing. R/redpillwomen was founded by men from r/theredpill. While most of the mods on RPWo were women, men from the main sub still had ultimate power. I'm not sure if there was a dispute, but the RPWo mods wanted to cut ties with r/theredpill and their male mods (while still retaining RP concepts and name) so they made their own sub, r/redpillwives.

The same as can happen with most ideologies. There were disagreements strong enough to prompt a schism. The more passionate the ideology, the more likely one will take place.

They decided marriage was the only way to reach the ultimate goal of higher class and success, which we know isn't true. So they took their ball and went home. In the mean time, we redesigned and now have the best looking subreddit for women on the entirely of the interweb. Haters gonna hate.

Aside from the mod politics, there was a large divide on what the goal of RPW was. Many thought that the only possible goal was legally recognized marriage, and anything other than that (including long-term relationships with various paperwork or how to deal with a high-quality man who does not want to get married aka put his balls on the guillotine) got you banned, etc.
