So I got into an argument with a [male] feminist on social media (yes, I know damn well I'm not supposed to, I'm not full-on TRP, but I posted this to ask about this view from a man who has been through that, so leave ettiquette out of this) regarding false rape claims, and yet somehow despite that happening, he still maintains that position.

Was curious what TRP's take is on this, since that usually seems to be the turning point.

This is what was said:

Being treated unfairly by a woman does not and should not serve to invalidate any feminist movement, because every fucking feminist I've ever known has been against false rape claims. False rape claims essentially make all rape claims seem like lies and even though it happens, believing that a case of rape is a lie at first glance only serves to validate the idea that "real" rape victims don't go to the police, which is exactly what causes this flood of false rape cases making it to the media. We should be focusing on all rape victims than throwing around ideas that it /may/ be false. We should be supporting all victims of rape, male female or otherwise and openly shunning people who exploit the tragedy of rape for personal benefit or vengeance. Lastly, the things that were said by the 13 perpetuate positivity in rape, as if it's an alright thing to do, and intended as some sadistic joke or not, is seriously fucked up, and not at all funny to anyone who, again, is not some sociopathic sadist. I can be imprissoned for threatening to kill or even hospitalize someone even as a joke, but if a man "jokingly" threatens to rape a woman, we just shrug our shoulders and say "boys will be boys". As someone who was falsely accused of rape, I still think you should believe them until proven otherwise, because trusting the truth and creating a safe environment for victims to come out without fear is beyond more important than the select few cases of false rape, especially since the more support we give victims the sooner they'll act, and the more likely we are to prove it disprove whateverclaims are made."
