There have been some posts claiming that RP is comparable to praying or tarot cards. This seems far fetched to me.
I can see that RP and praying both have anecdotes and personal experiences to work with. There aren't scientifically conducted studies that have tested either one and peer-reviewed. Also, there will be people whom RP theories won't apply to.
I fully agree with this, so I take a "Be like water" approach to RP theories.
/u/RedCurtis brought up these points:
- [Tarot cards/praying]'s strength is in their vagueness. RPT makes specific, easily falsifiable predictions.
- Predictions derived from incorrect assumptions, no matter how vague (unless p=1), will demonstrably fall apart given a sufficiently long time frame. RPT stands the test of time, and is akin to (but not nearly as robust as) evolution in that sense.
I also had an encounter with a girl where RP theory was not working. It's anecdotal and my take on it but I think it demonstrates me calibrating and adjusting my RP game to what worked for her.
-
She's graduating high school this summer and can look forward to having lots of options in college. I'm the cool, tall college guy telling stories to her social circle and hooking up her older brother with weed (dat SMV).
-
I always use abundance mentality when flirting, but it didn't work on her. She backed off when I showed that I can get with other girls in her circle. I eased my game on her a bit, hung around with her circle some more, and today, I got to flirt with her again.
-
This time, I was peacocking my SMV but no negging or abundance mentality. Made it obvious to the circle I was pursuing her and only her. Kept frame, masculine attitude, all that other RP stuff. She was receptive and agreed on a date after her graduation.
In short, adapted my RP game and got success.
I think the "Be like water" adaptability of RP makes it much more likely for it to work (take what works from the salad bar). It doesn't compare to praying/astrology/tarot cards.
Does anyone, especially purple pills, have similar experiences where adapting some of RP made you more successful?
