hey, I helped edit the link OP submitted, so I can provide context if that's helpful. my explanation is mostly copy/pasted from a comment I wrote elsewhere, but it summarizes the work as well as I could word it. (also, my reddit interface is being really weird right now and I'm new to this sub, so I apologize if anything is accidentally incoherent)

This essay is about how the hypocrisies of female-on-male violence can perpetuate in a nightclub setting and how certain kinds of women and men are advantaged by perpetuating them.

Superficially this piece might look like a Mean Girls-style thing, because you have a bunch of girls acting out female archetypes. But each girl and guy in the essay (Chelsea, Shelby, Nicole, Brandi, Hector) represent archetypes of people who allow this mentality to perpetuate.

I think this article's significance is in how it shows how people benefit from this mentality, even men. Larger guys who might be a bit oblivious (which she shows with the bottle service thing) and who might not be able to get laid on social skills alone can use this inequality to their advantage when a man is way weaker than them.
