From the drilldowns of trp and tbp, one of thing they share in common: a sizable chunk of the communities are drawn to drama like moths to the flame.
So let's talk about drama queens, including the ones inside each of us.
I want to say that I usually try to avoid it (but that's what a drama queen would say!), but I might have done a poor job of it.
Poor enough that I might be on several shit-lists. One bper found it necessary to look as far back as several months into my posting history, and then message me telling me how much of a terrible liar I was. The dishonest comment I made was an off-hand one when i first visited trp, paraphrasing: "I haven't visited trp much before today, but from what I've seen, it doesn't seem that bad." According to the bper, I had made a comment or two before that day on the sub. Maybe I was lying, maybe I had poor sense of time, or maybe I just posted out-of-order (I have a bad habit of leaving unfinished comments and tabs open). I still found it rather surprising people would dig so far back into comment history to find dirt on people, including me (I'm not even a notable "endorsed contributor").
From my understanding, bpers have archives/bots for cataloguing notable comments and notable rpers. Many of them (from what I've seen from their own screenshots) tag rpers and redditors from other groups, specifically so they can downvote them or dislike them, regardless of context.
Some crazy rpers exist too obviously. In this very ppd sub, some crazy rper got mad at me for a thread I made (completely missing my point), and decided to dig into my comment history. Apparently, he claimed to have found many pages' worth of screenshots of me making pro-feminist or pro-tbp comments. He threatened to report me to trp mods (lol!!).
Clearly, it's not just limited to one side.
Anyone have insight into drama queens? I used to just assume that their own lives are so uninteresting that they can only find enjoyment by focusing or controlling others. I guess it's applicable to myself as well, since I like listening to others' stories.
Are you a drama queen? (Probably more likely or not, just by subscribing to ppd, trp, or tbp. Guilt by association.) How do you feel about being a drama queen? Does it bring excitement to your life? Do you derive value from it?
