My boyfriend has been broken up with his ex for 7 months now but they still lived together up until a month ago. They have a son together, and he pays child support. They were together for about 3 years. Lived in apartments for 2.5 years, and got this house may 2014. They're selling the house and splitting the profit. She quit her job when they bought this house (because it was stressful) and got a job a month ago, which is why she finally moved out. She's psychotic and is only starting to bug him for alimony "because she can" not because she needs it. She's just being a twat because he has a new girlfriend (me!). He has debt and she has a car. He told her if she screws him for alimony, she'll take half his debt and he'll take half her car. Does he have any rights here? What can he do to avoid paying out the butt in alimony? I'm so upset because he had all these terrible texts with her threatening him and wanting to screw him with alimony but he lost his phone. She's also not allowing him to see his son and he cannot afford a lawyer. Any tips help. We live in Canada by the way. Thanks!
