At work, a different dept was stuck with noone for a particular job. Im very good at what they needed, so I shifted hours to their dept & gave them a deadline to find a permament person.
The other day, I made an innocuous comment to a woman I work with, to which she responded, "you're annoying, shut up". Laughed it off, A&A'd, and the disrespect got worse. This happened in front of everyone, including the manager. Unbeknowst to me, the woman was about to miss a deadline. I told her how many minutes were left until the deadline & exitted.
Later, I informed the manager that noone speaks to me the way that woman did & that I was done in that dept. This will have no negative impact on my career, income, reputation, etc.
Was there a better way to handle this, ie checking this bitch harder? Speaking to the woman directly about what happened seems validation seeking, especially since its in the past.
