tl/dr: cousin used to be a player, now married to an immigrant and they're both furious that I got some action at a bar.

I live in the United States now, but I grew up somewhere else. When I was growing up my cousin was a frequent partyer and often picked-up girls at bars. Meanwhile, I generally avoided bars, only had one girlfriend in university, and wasted a lot of time being an orbiter.

My cousin met his wife came to our (first world) country as an international student from a third-world country. They got married somewhat hastily based on financial pressure from her father, although it's obviously worked out great for her. Interesting fact is she was 18 when they got married and they started dating when she was only 17 at a bar. The drinking age in our country is 19, but she was using a fake ID.

While I was visiting I went out with my cousin, his wife, and others to celebrate a relatives 19th birthday. In the car ride over he mentioned he would be my wing man and she says "[he] can do whatever it takes to get you laid." I realize now this was all sarcasm at my expense.

Show up at the bar, the group dissipates, and I dance briefly before getting a drink. Talk to a girl, not from our group, and share a drink with her before we start making out. She told me she was 21 and from another part of the country. Good looking girl. End up bringing her to the quieter part of the bar where others from my party are hanging-out. Continue making-out with her and start fondling her ass and vagina -- this is all consensual.

She leaves at bit later and at this time the birthday girl has passed-out drunk. I flirt with some of her friends, same age as her. When she wakes up, we head out of the bar. As I'm heading out, I run into the girl I was making out with before and passionately kiss for a few seconds before her friend drags her away.

We head over to a pizza shop, my cousin his wife and some of the birthday girl's friends. The birthday girl left is a separate vehicle. As we're outside the shop, I notice one of the girls and my cousin's wife starts screaming at me, "don't look at her like that!"

End up taking a separate taxi home and when I contact my cousin the next day he wants me to apologize to his wife. He also mentions he "sure as hell hope[s] that behavior and attitude towards women isn't something that you have normalized." Apparently, 19-year-old girls are way too young. I pointed out that he'd made _tons_ of misogynist jokes at family gatherings before and tried to explain the complete hypocrisy that he'd displayed. He'd even joked about dumping one of his girlfriends on Valentine's Day and I remember him mentioning making-out with a 15-year-old who was using a fake ID in the context of turning down actual sex because she was underage. Not to mention the fact that he was living with his wife when she was 17, before they got married at 18 after meeting in a bar. His reply is, "stay away from me and my family."

Any idea what's going on here? My thinking is his wife feels threatened by the fact that he could realize I had more fun that night than he did and he's probably upset about a change in the social dynamic as well.
