After one date, i figured i should escalate on the second one, and i invited her over to my place to watch a movie. She didn't say straight "no", but went a bit cold and didn't reply initially until after a few days. She then told me she would maybe be going to an event in town in a week with several friends and asked me if i was going and we could maybe meet there. I had actually planned to go to that event with friends already, but i want to actually see this girl alone, just us, not with a bunch of friends and stuff on second date. So i told her "i would likely be going, but i was thinking more of "just us" meeting".
She then told me "Well i don't know what's normal for you, but where i come from; getting invited to your place to watch a movie is the same as getting invited over to fuck. That's not me, i like to get to know people in social settings and see how they actually behave around people". I was a bit surprised at the response, and responded with "I was just thinking of doing something else other than meeting for a drink. It's fine if you'd rather meet in public, just figured meeting at the event wouldn't give us many chances to talk"
Probably a shitty response i guess, but i wasn't sure what to say. Was it a mistake to invite the girl over already on the second date? How should i proceed?
